Prayer Stations

We are introducing creation themed prayer stations into the garden space. Each station will have a Bible verse written on slate and an accompanying card to help people engage with the garden in a prayerful way. The stations will be introduced one per week for 7 weeks.

Please visit the garden if you are able. If you are unable to visit you could use the information below to pray for St James and the community of Bolton.

Hills - Matthew 14.23

"After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray. Later that night, he was there alone"

As you look out across the hills of Bradford, understand that many people go to a special place to be with God, even Jesus.

Fruit - Galatians 5.22

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,"

Read the verse and think about each fruit of the spirit. Ask God to help you bear those fruits. How will you show a fruit of the spirit today?

Thorns - Matthew 13.7

"Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants."

When seed falls among thorns it can be easily choked and become unfruitful. Weeds grow in any garden. Think of the weeds as things that worry you and stop you being fruitful. Give the ‘weeds’ to God.

Water - Psalm 42.1

"As the deer pants for streams of water,

so my soul pants for you, my God."

Some words that could be used to describe water – refreshing, cleansing, life giving, quenching, reviving, renewing. Reflect on God’s goodness and receiving refreshment from him.

Birds - Psalm 104.12

  "The birds of the sky nest by the waters;

they sing among the branches."

Sit quietly and watch and listen to the birds. God has provided a place for every living creature and wants everyone to know his love. Who would you like to feel God’s love today?

Desert - Revelation 22.17

"The Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come!’ And let the one who hears say, ‘Come!’ Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life."

In Matthew 4:4-10 Jesus was in the wilderness and tempted by the devil. When have you struggled with temptation? Use the verse above and make it your prayer in the desert.

Flowers - Matthew 6.28

"And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labour or spin."

Think about the intricate detail and beauty of flowers. As you think, let God speak to you about your worries. Hand those worries to God and put your trust in him.

Gathered worship update

We will continue to worship together each Sunday at 10.30am.

We encourage you to continue to use hand sanitiser and face coverings in the building as we believe it is our Christian duty to be responsible for one another.

WE CAN SING!

We ask that you still consider wearing a face covering for this.
